Time Efficiency in Operation: Mechanical (Rope) grabs need to be lowered into the lighter hatch and touch the bottom to open during unloading. This process causes a time loss of around 20% to 30%. On the other hand, auto remote-control grabs can open directly in the air (without touching the bottom), which saves time and allows faster unloading operations.
Larger Capacity: Mechanical (Rope) grabs usually have a capacity of 3 CBM to 7 CBM, which slows down the unloading process. In contrast, auto remote-control grabs have a larger capacity, typically 8 CBM to 14 CBM, resulting in fewer cycles and higher efficiency.
Less Operational Obstruction: While opening Mechanical (Rope) grabs inside the lighter hatch, they often get stuck against the hatch walls, causing delays. Auto grabs, however, can be opened remotely from mid-air, which reduces the risk of blockage and further saves time.
